Rock on Tommy
Here at our Guernsey agency we are thrilled that Capelles Building Store’s 60th Birthday celebrations went off with such a bang. After weeks of planning, printing, web developing and broadcasting, the day finally arrived. Over 1,000 people came down to see the brand new showroom open and to meet Ground Force’s Tommy Walsh. Everyone crowded in to ask him for his top tips – along with his autograph!
“It couldn’t have been better”
When asked how the day went Steve said “It couldn’t have been better”.
The guests enjoyed free food and drinks, putting away an impressive 400 hot dogs and burgers, 400 canapés and dozens of crates of refreshments. And like any good party, guests went home with Capelles goodie bags and merchandise from various suppliers.
What overwhelmed us all was the genuine enthusiasm Tommy showed for Capelles Building store. He knows how tough it is for small family-owned businesses to compete with the big chain stores – and he really highlighted the wealth of knowledge and experience that Capelles offers.
Above and beyond
The event was supposed to wrap up at 4pm but Tommy, Steve and the team were still going strong at 6pm. Clearly impressed with the brand new showroom, fantastic offers and the charming Mr Walsh, customers couldn’t keep away.
What a man, what a weekend, what an event!
Marketing magic
The great thing for us, as a Guernsey agency, is seeing again just how effective marketing can be. On the day, sales blitzed previous weeks. The Capelles team sold over 1,000 square metres of stock tiles and paving, as well as fireplaces, stoves, worktops, house signs and other natural stone products. Takings were up by over 300% and the orders are still coming in thick and fast.
As a Guernsey agency we pride ourselves in delivering these kinds of results. Our clients demand a return on investment and pounds in the pocket – we couldn’t agree more.
Well-earned rest
After a hugely busy and rewarding day we all piled into the Rockmount for a few well-earned pints. Mrs Walsh joined in the celebrations, commenting that this was the first trip she and Tommy had been on without the children – ever!
Watching the sun go down on a glorious summer evening across one of Guernsey’s most beautiful bays was the perfect end to a perfect day.
From Steve, the team at Capelles and all of us here at SWN, the direct response Guernsey agency, we want to say, “Thank you Tommy, you rock!”
